Russell (William Felton “Bill”) Bridge is dedicated.

A replacement for the Charlestown Bridge or North Washington Street Bridge, it is named for the former Boston Celtics star and civil rights activist. Team members participate in the ceremony, which takes place on the day of the season opening game, which is preceded by the hanging of their 18th championship banner.
